Constraining variability of coupling constants with bright and extreme quasars

چکیده

The 'extreme Population A (xA) quasars' approaching, sometimes exceeding the Eddington limit, are a type of quasars that could serve as standard candle to measure distances too large for supernovae Ia (SNe Ia) be observable. For using xA candles, it would beneficial know how their luminosities vary if coupling constants varied over cosmic time. Alternatively, when calibrated SN candle, quasar observations constrain variation constants. We show Hubble diagram provides same constraint on constants' SNe from Pantheon data. concurrently in our model, i.e., speed light $c$, gravitational constant $G$, Planck $h$, and Boltzmann $k$, interrelated $G\thicksim c^{3}\thicksim h^{3}\thicksim k^{3/2}$. thus determined can expressed terms $H_{0}$ $(\dot{G}/G)_{0}=3(\dot{c}/c)_{0}=3(\dot{h}/h)_{0}=1.5 (\dot{k}/k)_{0}=5.4H_{0} =3.90(\pm 0.04)\times 10^{-10} yr^{-1}$, where subscript 0 is current This conclusion corroborated with analysis data correlated UV X-ray emissions.

Constraining the Cosmological Density of Compact Objects with the Long-Term Variability of Quasars

By comparing the results from numerical microlensing simulations to the observed long-term variability of quasars, strong upper limits on the cosmological density of compact objects in the 10−4 M⊙–1 M⊙ range may in principle be imposed. Here, this method is generalized from the Einstein-de Sitter universe to the currently favored ΩM = 0.3, ΩΛ = 0.7 cosmology and applied to the latest observatio...

X-Ray Microlensing of Bright Quasars

We calculated the expected microlens light curves for several accretion-flow models and compared the results to find what aspects of distinct flow structures can be extracted from the microlens light curves. As for the flow models, we considered the standard disk, optically thin advection-dominated flow, and the disk-corona model by Kawaguchi et al., which can nicely reproduce the observed quas...

Constraining axion–nucleon coupling constants from measurements of effective Casimir pressure by means of micromachined oscillator

Stronger constraints on the pseudoscalar coupling constants of an axion to a proton and a neutron are obtained from an indirect measurement of the effective Casimir pressure between two Au-coated plates by means of micromechanical torsional oscillator. For this purpose, the additional effective pressure due to two-axion exchange is calculated. The role of boundary effects and the validity regio...

Constraining fundamental constants of physics with quasar absorption line systems

We summarize the attempts by our group and others to derive constraints on variations of fundamental constants over cosmic time using quasar absorption lines. Most upper limits reside in the range 0.5−1.5×10−5 at the 3σ level over a redshift range of approximately 0.5 − 2.5 for the fine-structure constant, α, the proton-to-electron mass ratio, μ and a combination of the proton gyromagnetic fact...

Extended Lyman - α emission around bright quasars ⋆

Context. Quasars trace the most massive structures at high redshifts and their presence may influence the evolution of the massive host galaxies. Aims. We study the extended Lyα emission line regions (EELRs) around seven bright, mostly radio-quiet quasars (QSOs) at 2.7 < z < 4.5, and compare luminosities with EELRs around radio-loud QSOs reported in the literature. Methods. Using integral field...
